Interviewing Binge Drinkers

When 5 people were interviewed for 30 minutes, they were between the ages of 18 and 25 they agreed that going out once or twice a week and binge drinking was an easy way to socialise and meet new people because they felt that drinking made them more confident. Though they didn't think this was down to self esteem issues. The people asked said that people drank because they felt there was nothing else to do or that going out drinking was a more accessible night out than other nights. Also other alternatives like bowling and the cinema don't last the full night and sometimes get repetitive. Though drinking gets repetitive also there are always other bars or clubs for a change of scenery. Most people that binge drink would not go out drinking if they were alone.

well drinking is a social problem. if your campaign is for a target audience of young people then you need to base it on a theme of friendship groups. not many youngsters go out alone, its not seen as "cool" by going out on your own. younger people only really care about their image and only really go out to binge drink cos they are copying their mates”
